Swiss FM describes Isfahan as a pearl in West Asia

Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis describes Isfahan a pearl in the West Asia.

In his latest trip to Iran, Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis has described the Iranian city of Isfahan as a pearl in the West Asia.

In a tweet on Saturday, Cassis wrote, "Visit to the city of Isfahan - a pearl in the Middle East,” adding, “Knowing the culture and people of a country: a prerequisite for good diplomatic relations.”

The Swiss Foreign Minister has made a three-day trip to Iran to meet with officials of the country.

Cassis and his accompanying delegation visited the historical monuments of Isfahan, including Naqsh-e Jahan Square (one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites), Vank church, and other tourist attractions of the city.

The Swiss FM also met with some professors of Isfahan University of Technology at the Abbasi Hotel, and discussed the necessity of enhancing scientific, cultural and technological interactions between the two countries. He also held talks with Governor of Isfahan Abbas Rezaee.

The 100th anniversary of the start of relations between the two countries will be also among the important events to be celebrated during the Swiss official’s visit to Iran.

According to Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh, the Swiss Foreign Minister's trip to Tehran has nothing to do with Iran-US issues, and has already been planned within the framework of reciprocal ties.
